Topic: Turbo fins popping off fix?  (Read 2204 times)

So this happened a couple time out on the water, the threaded tension screw gets pulled through the rubber hole and the whole fin pops off. Anybody got a quick fix for this or should I just buy a new fin? Thanks

Just put a stainless steel washer in there.

Also, flip the screw upside down so the fat side is pointing up.

There is the possibility of a metal washer damaging the threads on the tension screw. Maybe a hard rubber washer might do the trick.

ps in seven+ years of owning many different Hobie kayaks I haven't had that issue.

good point ill try a rubber one..I blame crunch fitness for this problem..im spending too much time on the squat bar haha

i've noticed mine are starting to look rusty. I've only took it out on the salt twice :smt044 (yes i wash the living crap out of them when i get home with fresh water)

I dont think it is, the fins are pretty worn out, theres alot of goop spots on mine from tears. Got that washer in lets see how it holds on my next trip

Yes, I'd say so too.

Btw, there is a thread on the Hobie forum, where it is claimed (with some good evidence, IMHO), that the fins are more efficient when that screw is left quite loose:
