Since  putting together my EDC I've found that I'm not carrying it at all, it sits in my truck, or rental car when I travel.  I always have it with me, but found the small old pack not to convenient.  I have 3 of theses type of hydration packs ($19.95 at Costco at beginning of summer) so I played with transferring the contents from the old pack into the new one.  I added the plastic container to organize the small items, and like this much better than before.  This container is kept in the middle pocket.
Contents of the main pocket are:  Grilliput grill, 50' 550 Para cord, some gloves, the Tanto blade I recently worked on, 1Oz. steel flask filled with lamp oil, small waterproof bag rolled up, chamois style pack towel, a strap to use for compression, and the yellow waterproof container is holding my space blanket and signal mirror.
Although this pack is larger than the other pack, it does have a 100oz water bladder inside, so I can have water with me wherever I'm at.  I'm going to give this pack try for a few months, and if I don't feel comfortable with it's use and function, I'll upgrade again.

as part of my EDC I found a small Altiods tin and one day while in my shed I grabbed a few items from my fishing gear to load into the tin. In the off chance I don't have a fishing rod with me, I had an idea to be able to make a makeshift one. I wanted to make a rod tip eyelet.  I took a large paperclip and opened it up then made a an open loop (To lay fishline in it easily) with legs to secure to any stick, with some sort of cordage, duct tape (Carried in EDC) cable ties, (Also carried in EDC)
This little kit is not complete, but has enough stuff to catch fish.  The green line is Spyderline 30lb braid, maybe 30 feet total, the foam ear plugs are for bobbers.

Wondered what the metal thing was.  Looked larger than a paperclip.  Thought it was a rod holder at first.  Good stuff!  Those ear plugs for bobbers?

We all know a zombie apocalypse is coming, and if, for some reason my 12-15 fishing poles end up not useable, I'll have this little kit to fish with! :smt044  I'll be able to fashion a short fishing pole out of the skeletal arm of some zombie (Once cleaned up a bit)

I finally added some small tube jig's to my tiny kit, A few 1/4oz bullet weights, a few more SS swivels, some smaller hooks and a way to store about 20 -30 yards of 4lb test mono.
The tiny white (Trout Traps) mini jigs pictures absolutely kill panfish! There not bad on Trout either!
This morning I loaded my new little (Turning out to be WAY useless) baitcaster reeel that came with my "Penrod" fishing pole.  Mind you I never really expected much from this setup. I found some bad problems with the reel loaded with the 4lb test while I was stringing the line through the tiny rod eyelets.
The line on the spool, had become loose as the crank handle spins when line is being pulled off, and (while threading the line down the pole) the crank back turned, free spooling a loop on the reel that got caught between the spool and the case and then wrapped around the spools support shaft inside the reel! Cut the line, pulled the now caught line out and re-threaded the line down the pole and it happened again! Cleared it once more, then tied a small weight to the line and tried to cast it. Unsuccessfully.  Twice!  I may have to add a heavier weight, it simply flip-cast with this setup.
Anyhow, my Altiods tin kit and reel fit into the small green "Ammo tin" and for now, the reel will probably just be used to store line.  I have other Ultra-light spinning reels I can mount to the penrod that cast much better!
I can't be disappointed in the reel, as my expectations for it were very low to begin with.  I guess more of a novelty item than serious gear.
