Anyone know the the current conditions for albion cove?? A friend has invited me to go. NOAA shows strong winds and swell for this weekend. But forecast shows out 10 nautical miles and small craft advisory. Anyone know what it may be closer to the cove?? If to rough, any good fishing up the river ? If so, what gear? Restrictions?

Thanks , Alex

It has been rough with changing winds. The cove isn't bad but going further out may not be the best weekend for it.

I went out of noyo yesterday and waves were supposed to be lowest in like a month.  There were some sneaker large waves and wind would come.and go making it worse.  It was tolerable on a boat,  but personally would not do it in a kayak.

But there are some protected coves around I may go try spearfishing at today.  Yesterday I was told by 2 divers that vis was about 5-8 ft, so not sure if you plan on diving or not, but abs were caught.

Thanks , Alex

It's all about comfort and how die hard you are.  The morning salmon bite has been okay, but not so good in the afternoon.  It tends to be a little less windy earlier.  Yesterday by noon most boats had gone back in.  It can change real quick but usually you can find a window of opportunity to get some fishing in.  There were 12 ft boats out, so it can be done.  As for diving your going to get wet so you can almost always find somewhere to jump in.

I did a quick meat run for Abs yesterday in the swimming pool by Van Damme and vis there was about 1'-2'. Small swell, surgey inside the cove, wind blowin' and choppy outside.

Boy do I understand.  Went out to Russian Gulch this morning and vis was only 5' in many places. Saw some kayaks out and a couple inflatables and they were going further out and getting abs.  I should have brought my kayak, but get tired of dragging it around.

I only saw a few fish and did not take any of the abs I saw.  I met another diver who said this was his first time at this loc and also said it was the worst vis he has ever seen over all the locations he has been.

So flash back to my marine corp days. Train for the worst and you will appreciate it when it is not so bad.

The water was nice early in the morning, but got rougher later on.  Might be the same in albion so I hope you guys kill it.
