I'm looking for a kayak to do some non fishing exploring like Estero Americano and Tomales Bay.  I don't want a real skinny yak.  I want about 12 foot long with about 26 inch beam.  I'm not looking to break the bank but if you have any ideas shoot me a PM.  Thanks.

Sufingdude I'm looking for a more conventional kayak.  Thanks for posting the photos and description.

You might look into used demos from kayak shops, although this is pretty much the wrong end of the season for it. Might still be some deals out there, though.

Thanks Piski.  I have seen some ads for the local shops.  Just thinking somebody has a yak they don't use and want to turn it into some $.

I have a Perception/Aquaterra Scimitar I would sell for $450. Google it and if you're interested I'll take and send some pics.
No pedals, no problem.

I've explored those areas in a boat exactly as you describe - 12'4" long by 27" wide, and it's perfect for it. Not fast, but you're not in a hurry. Stable for photography, etc. You can play in the mouth of Estero Americano and turn around in the feeder creeks you explore along the way. Be sure to check out Walker Creek off of Tomales Bay. Take a camera, and watch the tides! Mine was an old Perception Acadia. A small recreational boat like that is great for a lot of places, and makes a good loaner.

Not sure if you have a bass pro around, but saw some basic kayaks new for around $400. Not sure if they were ocean worthy so I just went and bought some more fishing gear.

The Costco in Rohnert Park has had some basic kayaks for sale lately. I may have a T13 for sale soon if I can convince the wife to let me sell it so I can buy a Revo. :smt044
