I saw this on the news this morning:

Shark fishing should dramatically increase in the area while the carcass is around.   :smt003   

In all seriousness, be mindful of the likely increased presence of the landlord (and other species... although they'll likely be too stuffed with whale blubber to take an interest in kayaks). 

There's lotsa info on Google regarding scavenging of whales.  Interesting stuff.

My concern is the increased traffic it'll bring in the area. It's already bad as it is and then this other attraction comes in
