Hello Everyone!

I'm Joe Real. I lived in Davis for more than 20 years and then bought another property in Woodland where we are currently staying.

I bought an inflatable kayak recently, haven't used it, but I will innovate to convert it into a fishing kayak.  I've had experienced with inflatable boats and have used it for fishing for more than 10 years, and have innovated to install autopilot electric motor with deep cycle batteries until I've upgraded to a nice 14' aluminum boat. But the neighbors in Davis complained of the boat, so I got rid of it after 10 years of use and nagging from neighbors complaining that their real estate value will go down! Anyway, I've been boatless for more than 5 years now, and since I need the exercise, why not use a kayak for fishing?  I would have wanted a hard kayak, but it would penalize my car's mpg, since I'm all for the environment, and am actively a hyper-miler with my Chevy Cruze Eco which I have pushed to give me 58+ mpg in my daily commutes. So no kayak on top of the roof for me, and that has left me with inflatable option. I will surely innovate to make it stable and stable to stand-on just like what I did with my inflatable boat.  The inflatable kayak that I got is 2-person, but I will surely install a nice marine plywood flooring on it that I can collapse so that it will fit in my chevy cruze.  It also does have a skeg for a stable course, and I haven't tested it yet. Am so glad to find this group!!!

Here's the inflatable that I got:

I've been fishing even before I went to school, using staple for hook and strand of nylon that I meticulously unbraided from nylon ropes as my fishing line, hey it's free, and I did catch many perches with it.

I'm also a winemaker, a rarefruit grower, an inventor, and I do love fishing.  I'm also an active member of Fish Sniffer Forum.

My first kayak ride was an inflatable which did just fine in the calm water I took it on.  I do like a solid one now for so many reasons. One reason is not the low miles my truck gets when I have to haul the kayak around. Gets lower when I pull my fifth wheel, but love camping in style.  And camping neighbors don't care if you have a boat or kayak outside.  You figured a way to get back on the water and that's good.

Hey JR!
Way to represent for the Woodland Crew
There are a couple more Woodlanders on the site.
We should all meet up for a fish and chill or maybe just a chill, since there are few bodies of navigable water in the Woodpile. :smt003

Joe, Welcome. I'm glad to hear you want to get into kayak fishing but I have some concerns. You said your an active member of Fishsniffer. That's fine and dandy, but I really hope you don't have any intentions of using this site and intel from here to share with and post onto Fishsniffer. Not to say you are, but that wouldn't be kool. NCKA is one of a kind and we are a very special group of anglers and friends. We are there for each other, both on and off the water. I'm just simply saying, if kayak fishing is seriously what you want to get into and want to meet some kool folks, this is the place. Just Please respect our community and don't site share info. Now on the other hand, dude, if you can't sacrifice a few of those mpg's on a 58 mpg vehicle, then your really gonna hold yourself back from serious kayak fishing. Plastic hull kayaks are the way to go.

I have plenty of wines, enough to feed everyone in Woodland! So you all can come and have wine tasting and BBq.
