Count me in, unless it looks like crazy wind.  No VHF, but I'll be the one in the red malibu two stuck in the weeds.

Does anyone remember what the parking fee?  I want to make sure that I have exact change so that I don't drop a 20 in the iron box.

The fish bite, or rock bite?

The sniffer board has had mixed good and bad, but mostly good reviews for the big lake for about the last month.

We are betting on the wind dying down with the offshore flow by Sunday. IF it doesn't then we'll have to see.

First, in my humble opinion, Mister Linesides is always there and hungry--you just have to find him--they don't fast or diet. It's the wind that keeps you from getting to him. But I know where he eats and I'll be waiting.  :smt001

Second, there are great LMB there as well and I have, while in a float tube fly-fishing for Striped Bass, watched people fishing plastics from the shore score 4-6 pounders so if the wind is too much, we'll fish the shore for LMB.  :smt016

But I have been told years ago by a guide who has fished it for 30 plus years that an off-shore flow, which we have Sat and Sun, means little wind over the Pacheco Pass and calm at the Forebay and Lake. He has been right on that many times and I'll bank on it again. Yeah it's a gamble--but fishing always is and I'll bet my time and energy any time I think I might get a good hand in the game. As Captain Aubrey (Russell Crowe) of the HMS Surprise said in Master and Commander: the Far side of the World--"I will grind whatever grist the mill requires".  :angry1: And so will I.

If it was a sure thing they'd call it "Catching" not "Fishing"  :smt003

Here is a phone number you can call to get a forecast, the Forebay level, and 20-minute wind conditon reports for the Reservoir from current going back 60 minutes.
Always good to call before you drive down there: +1-800-805-4805

FYI the 0740 report today was 8-10 mph up from 6 mph 60 minutes before. Let's hope it doesn't get bigger and is quieter tomorrow or we'll be flying around  :smt013

I checked the phone report--average wind on the Lake has been 2-12 mph with average 6-8 the last hour. And the Forebay is always a bit less. With any luck, we should have a calm morning tomorrow. If we launch at 0730, top water in Madeiros shoulf still be going off. Wahoo! I cannot wait.  Warm up for Bendo at Mendo 2
