Launch ramps are for pussies. Or boats.
Just tie a rope to the bow and lower it down.

Some guys have an extra beater yak in the stable for just such occasions! If you saw the vid of the crazy mofos yakkin down the drainage flumes I am guessing they did not use their shiny new ones.

Lmao this thread is hilarious. Why dont u just get a buddy to go too so you can just manhandle them down ?
One wrong step on the rocks of the guy at the bottom, he pretty much dies.

Just jack your rear end up ( of your vehicle ) and tie a rope around tire, put it drive and bingo! Lowering the kayak down is no brainer just give it the ol 1-2. Beater kayak for sure though!

When do you want to try this?
I was actually thinking of the same thing "scouting" spots to launch a yak Sac side. Its a pain driving (easy launching) yolo side free boat launch.
I've got suggestions too like putting sand bags at the bottom where we could launch.

Oh and theres a skinny rock stairway on the right side of the hood too where you can launch but potentially damage the bottom of kayak.

Okay, you know exactly where I'm talking about.  I'll be there Saturday at first light.  Silver 4 runner parked south of the stairs near the fence.  Hope to see you there and anyone else who wants to go out Saturday morning.  I'm gonna try jigging for salmon, and possibly stripers.
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

you got a 4 Runner, so I'll echo the harbor freight winch idea.  Make a skid out of some large conduit to keep the yak from getting banged up, or, like ppickerell said, do this:

14' Necky Dolphin, fast and wiggly, no room for anything.
Old Mitchell reel junkie.

I have lowered a kayak by just attaching truck rope to the bow handle and lowering it down cliffs. Ideally look for areas that have iceplant or something other than rocks, but it really isnt that hard. We have moved some big yaks; trident 15, x factors, and old scupper pros made of cement.  Rock climbers have some device that helps you grip the rope, but I didnt need it. Well at least a few years ago I didn't. Getting back up took a bit more effort to go up, throw the rope down, then go back and attach to yak before climbing again to pull up.
