Hit collins lake a couple days ago with my buddy travis for a little trout fishen. it was the maiden voyage for my new to me jackson coosa.  we were otw at 9 started trolling kastmasters and rapalas for nothing.  we found some submerged bushes that were holding nice bass very close to the surface tried everything senkos jigs rip baits spinnerbaits couldnt get a bite.  finally travis gets a nice 16" rainbow on a crappie jig.  we stop to grill up some brats for lunch enjoy a couple cold beverages.  we get back on the water travis sticks a huge fish on a xrap while im messin with the gopro tryin to get some footage my rod gets slammed and we have a double.  my fish 16" his fish est 4-5 lbs.  we catch 3 more spotted bass on xraps and we called it a day shortly after. all fish were c&r.  it was a great day!  we both got our first kayak fish!

Very cool stuff.  Way for you to both get your first fish off the yaks.

I've got to learn Collins.  Have a tournament to attend up there in October.

Nice report.  I was thinking about hitting up Collins this weekend but couldnt pull the trigger.  I've never been there.  What is the launch like?  How much was the launch fee?

the lake is pretty full and the launch was piece of cake, there is a boat ramp but we just drove right to the water and dropped our yaks right in.  it was ten bucks to take a car for the day.  there was alot of people and i imagine a weekend day would be crazy.  we had a couple people who were trolling and not looking where they were goin had to paddle to get out of their way
