how ya'll are!?,
Looking at some of the posts on this site, some of you have a measuring sticker on the side of youre boat. Where did you find them and are there any more left in the world?
 Thanks in advance

There are measuring stickers at West Marine in Oakland on the shelf next to the fishing accessories.  I suspect that the rest of the outlets should have them as well.  Cost was about $5...a lot cheaper than a citation.  I forget what the maximum length of the sticker was but I had to make my own marks on the side of the yak with a sharpie for sturgeon, min 46" and max 72".  Just in case I carried a steel tape measure in my milk crate for DFG.  Phone ahead to make sure they have some on the shelf if you don't want to waste a trip.

If you enter the fish tournament / pool, Scwafish has provided one of these stick on measuring tapes to each entrant.

I made marks on the side of my kayak all the way from zero to 80 inches (wishful thinking) with a sharpie.  For me, that works the best... have to re-mark them occasionally since they rub off in time.

I've made marks on the wooden handle of my gaff with a sharpie pen.  I try to be a bit conservative just in case by adding a few eigths of an inch to each mark.   From smallest to biggest I have marks for Greenling, Cabezon, Halibut, and Lingcod.   Note: this isn't a great solution for salmon or fresh water fish as you're probably just as likely to get a ticket for having a gaff on freshwater or holding your gaff up alongside the salmon you just caught.  Another alternative would be to just mark a dowel or broomstick handle.  You could even mark your fish submission stick.

Anyway, I'm not sure why I think this is better than marking the side of my boat, but I like that I can measure taking the measuring device to the fish rather than the fish to the measuring device.  Of course, with the fish pool I suppose it makes the most sense to use the provided tape measure.

Thanks guy's,
I hope west marine has an online store as I live in Brookings Oregon.
I liike the paddle mount the best, just because it lays along side the boat in the keeper when I'm fishin'. (most of the time) as I am a fisher more than an eater of fish I don't like to lift them from the water if not kept.
I'm off to the wonderful wonderful web to search for west marine! :smt006

Hi, Mooch - How did you stick the tape to the paddle? Special glue?

Caution...when you place the sticker on the side of your yak make sure its not where it rests on your car/truck or house rack.  I've rubbed mine a couple of times now and it started to stretch and "move".  When the weather starts getting hot I suspect that its just going to come completely off.

"how long is it?"

Somewhere there is a joke in there that I just better leave alone...  :smt012

I tattoed a ruler on my drifter, and have meant to tatoo a ruler on my prowler, but the paddle ruler looks pretty sweet.

Another thing to think about when placing a measuring sticker on a boat is how you will be able to hold the fish aginst the measuring tape on the boat and take a picture at the same time. Can be challenging.
And on a personal note:  I couldnt place the sticker on my paddle and had to place it on my boat because I have a "bent shaft".
sorry I couldnt resist
