From this list, I guess Carmel River State Beach would be my first choice.  San Carlos and Monastery are so heavily used by divers that while the chance to educate would be good I would probably fall into resentment after cleaning up after them......  

I've never looked at the launch at Spanish Bay.  Heh  Chris, have you?

Lover's Point will be off limits for fishing in the future so it would be less desirable. 

Do we have to pay for our own signage?

I am still working out the details.  The contact at State Parks, Jill, is very busy with the beach cleanup event this weekend.  She will get back to me next week after things calm down.  I told her we were interested in signage and/or other publicity of this action and that is what she said she would look into in addition to the possibility of Stillwater at PB.  I will post information and be sure to contact you, Pat, before I make any decisions.  I really will need support on this.  Although they only require cleanups 3 times a year, it would be a drag to end up there alone.  If the publicity is not a possiblity I am not sure we can get the reqired group support.

Great ideas about the beach and highway (as long as the highway is close to the sea--no good in Lodi or Stockton). So I'd favor the beach over the highway.

I wonder if we can get kayak businesses involved as well. Perhaps Kayak Connection would help organize a tourney to provide the funds to adopt the beach? Maybe even kick in a little as well by helping with publicity, etc.? Allen thinks we are too hard on MBK, maybe this is their chance to provie us wrong and him right?
