Like a kid on opening day, I could not sleep the night before! You would think I would out grow this.
What makes it even more funny, I fish every weekend, and sometimes during the week!!! I guess that is why we love it so much!!! So I got out to the lake at about 7:30, Tim, Fisheducater, right behind me, and we see Jeff aka Jriggs , new North Valley Slayer, already on the water. We unload, and Jeff and I start fishing waiting for Tim to do his hair, have his nails done ect.... Jeff catches two fish, and Tim makes it out into the water. We head out to the main part of the lake and work our way up the Pit arm. The bite started off very slow, and Jeff had to take off early, so Tim and I worked our way further up the arm, picking up a few here and there. When we started to head back, the fishing picked up. I started catching fish quicker and better size fish, while Tim trolled for trout back, only picking up bass. When we got to where the cove was to the boat launch, we met a new Kayaker named Kyle. he had not caught any thing yet, told him what we were using, told him about NCKA and wished him luck. On our next stop I wacked a small 13" smallie, then a few more spots, and Tim joined in the action, when I few guys in a boat right by us yelled " What are you guys using" we told them, and they caught their first fish of the day. Then another powerboat moves right on us 15 feet away and starts picking our brains about Kayaks and what we were using to catch fish, and later we hear him on the phone talking about these Kayakers who a nailing the fish!!!!! Fun when you out fish the powerboat guys. Just as we were leaving I wacked a nice 16-1/2" inch smallie, I needed that for AOTY points!!!!! Then the new guy we met out there, Kyle, comes over, I ask if he picked any fish up, he said no, so I gave him a purple Robo worm and told him this is the ticket. Just as we made the bend I could hear Kyle yelling he got one, his first fish landed on his kayak. I finished up the day with 22 fish, and a great day on the water.  As I was paddling back I was thinking about how lucky I am, and how Eric was right, you choose to be lucky. Reading his post, I was thinking how lucky he is to live on the coast, and some day I WILL live on the coast myself, but my day on the water reminded me, how lucky I am over here. When I got home my beautiful wife had made a wonderful dinner with smoked Prime Rib, How damn lucky am I !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good karma indeed, nicely done guys. And I've found an interesting correlation to awesome days on the water being kicked off with the Chelada!

Nice to meet you Jeff / JRiggs, had a great time fishing with you guys.
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

Hi Jeff,

I knew it was going to pick up in the afternoon. I picked up a couple more heading in and kept thinking the bite would pick up.
I plan on going out again this weekend, but I went rock climbing with the kids on Sunday and while screwing around, fell while repelling and landed on my butt. Hopefully I can handle sitting in a kayak for a few hours by the weekend and thankfully I am not writing to you from a hospital bed, sucks getting older.

It was fun getting out there with you guys and I look forward to doing it again.

Picture of us rock climbing attached just so you know I'm not lying.

Jeff

No, Chase got hit in the chin with a locker door and had to have a cut glued together.

Let me know if you guys are going out this weekend.
