We haven't been having the best weather in my neck of the woods lately and of course that makes me super anxious. I took a spur of the moment trip up to Portland recently to search for some dino action. I fished the Swan Island Basin on the Willamette river. I had a pretty decent day, catching 15+ sturgeon. I wish that kind of action was a little closer to home but it was worth the four hour drive. Here's a funny clip from that trip.

When the ocean is too angry to fish sometimes I can sneak out to a calm spot on the bay. It's pretty much in my back yard. If I felt inclined to drag my kayak across the mud flats, I could pedal out to this spot from my house. This is the train bridge, you can see it out to the west of the North Bend bridge. During late summer early fall I troll for salmon out here. Year round it is a great place for all kinds of bottom fish. Lings, rockfish of all sorts, greenling and perch. Cabbies are a little slim up this far in the bay but I have caught them. I have even seen a few sturgeon rolling out here but have never tried to target them. We just don't have the population here.(This is where I caught the ling in my profile pic)

It's been raining and blowing like crazy all week. The forecast says it will probably continue for another week. I'm thinking I might chase the trophy stocker trout of a local lake while I wait for flat seas. I hope you guys down south are having much better weather and you're able to get out and catch some dinner!

I would consider that a graceful recovery...no epic fail since you still landed the fish!   :smt003

No kidding.  I've never used anything but Windows Movie Maker, and it's garbage.   :smt005

Sony Vegas Studio is a pretty capable program. It takes a bit to learn how to use it, but it can do a lot. This is what I use.
