Was shopping around for the Scotty 302 and found myself looking at Hook1's website. Advertised Price 199 and of course they give us 10% off so now i'm at 179.  I also wanted the scotty trap-ease but they were out of stock.
So I went to ACK and they advertise price match as long as they can verify. NO-Problem, they verified and they told me they still cannot match it. One reason is because its close to there cost on the item. They're trying to sell it for $279. So where's the Guarantee?

That's bad business!!!! :smt011

Seems more straight up honest to me vs being bad business,

Yeah, it's not cool to advertise price matching and then not, but NCKA discount was on top of an advertised price, so there's some wiggle room in their guarantee.

Just curious though, If Hook1 can supply it at 179, why are you trying to get it from ACK?

Hook1 has a long history of treating NCKA right.

And this is the first negative I've ever heard of on ACK.

I have placed exactly 2 orders with ACK in my life ... both since I have been a kayak owner.  BOTH times I ordered, I was sent the wrong items.  They made good on the orders BOTH times but it did take an extra week+ longer.  They gave me a free t-shirt both times though.

Curious why you didn't order from Hook1 either at that price.  Were they out of stock or ????

Just wanted to add the trap-ease in for additional discount.

Even at the no discounted price $199 vs ACK $279, with that much difference theres some price gouging in my opinion

Scotty isn't a HUGE company & neither is ACK or Hook1, it is possible that Hook1 negotiated a better deal on buying their product.  This was the strategy used by Boaters World when they were in retail business.  They pre-bought their stuff at better prices than most, but if they bought too few, they were out of stock for the rest of the year.  With great discounts comes some woes as well.
