Thanks for the info Jim:

The Central Valley steelhead ESU was listed as a
threatened species on March 19, 1998 (63 FR
13347). This ESU includes all naturally spawned pop
ulations of steelhead (and their progeny) in the
Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers and their tributaries. Excluded are steelhead from San Francisco
and San Pablo Bays and their tributaries. Steelh
ead from the Central Valley ESU would be expected
to spawn in the streams of Solano County.

Great catch Frank! I was thinking Striper? Corbina? leopard shark? as I read.

Never would have thought of a steelhead. Nice going to land that fish, and release it.

You need to change your location, you all!
Thanks guys. I wonder if those are stacked up near the river outlet there? I hooked in minimally brackish water. Just to the north side of fresh water should have taken a picture. But in the surf. Still dumbfounded!

You are a lucky dude.  Your bycatch is spectacular.  I remember when you were fishing for blue gill at Kelsey Bass Ranch on the dock and you nailed a LMB on a small grub.  Sensational.   :smt003

Ya lucky bastard, steelheaders spend hundreds of hours going for them and you catch one in the surf.  That is too freaking cool, I will admit, I am jealous!
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
