If we get an Indian summer and the conditions are still good in Oct-Nov, I'll certainly try to fish the BH area again (GWS notwithstanding). Regarding the drift to alternate landing, I was thinking that one would place a shuttle car to ferry everyone back to the launch site. Eg. transfer the shuttle car kayak to another car at landing site, proceed to launch site, drift, land, stow shuttle car kayak, drive to launch site, pick up other cars, drive back to landing.

Another site that might be interesting to explore is Point Sur. The south side is protected from a NW swell, and has some nice kelp beds that hold some large vermillions at its edge in 70ft. I dove there a couple weeks ago and it was by far the fishiest place I have ever seen underwater in the monterey area. One diver saw a 15+ pound yelloweye rockcod (protected).  If you look at Google Maps/Earth, it looks like one could launch a kayak off the lighthouse road (regulations?). The nearest campground is 1mi. to the south. Regardless, the quality of the fishing coupled with the postcard beauty of the site has me interested.

Thanks for all the rigging tips everyone. We had a great time and look forward to fishing with the NCKAers again!

Until next time,

Matt

Hi, Matt - There is another thread talking about the same thing. I have posted your info there. Check this out:

Mooch,

My cabbie was caught on the troll so to speak as well.  It is a good method.
