I wonder how many abandoned ships are left to rust in our waterways instead of being recycled. Seems like a waste and not doing any good for the environment. :smt011

I often wonder at the history of the big ship right outside of Holland Riverside marina.


One of the dock rats where our houseboat was berthed knew the owners.....or knew someone that knew the owners.  At one point in its life it was a mine sweeper that patrolled the Gate during WWII, very cool ship.  Rumor had it,  it was converted into a distance cruiser with very nice staterooms and a swimming pool on deck.  During the summers the owners were always there, you could see em bumping around the docks and deck, there dog used to go crazy barking at us (we used to burn spinnerbaits and topwaters through the mud flat that surrounds the boat). 

Mid to late 90's, it actually looked like it could still cruise, I seen it again last summer and its lookin pretty dilapidated.
