Way to go Erik. I have never seen a photograph of a Vermillion that big. Incredible day from the tally. Congratulations. All I can say is "wow". Not only are the fish great, but the place sounds great as well. Camping there must be a great time.

I am sure the fishing is as good or better than the Sea Ranch fishing I have done. Way to go

Erik, what was the water color like? Brent and I hit Ft. Ross yesterday and did pretty well, but water vis was way down due to the red tide.  Brent's brother dove for abs the day before and said it was very dark 15 ft down.

As far as I could tell, the water was very nice and clear.  I didn't dive so I don't know what it looked like at the bottom, but seemed pretty darn clear to me.

Max... this weekend, I was up around Stillwater Cove (near Ft. Ross) with Fuzz, Freddie, and a couple other guys who fished and dove for abs.  They also said the vis was not very good.  The fishing was worse than usual too.  The action was much better further north up at Anchor Bay.  Harold "Fuzz", Joe "skyboy", and I went there on Sunday, the day after Erik went.  I kept 3 nice reds and a 31" and 29" ling (released about 5 others 26 to 28").  Fuzz had a similar stringer including this big beautiful 24" red.

Erik, thanks for stopping by the camp to show us your huge red and hooking us up with the info on Anchor Bay.  It was worth the extra drive.

Nice work guys... I wondered if you guys would head up that way.

Glad the action held for you... I can't believe how many big reds are in that area... those are some hogs.

Thanks for the info Chuck.  My family and I just chowed on 5 different rockfish and the Vermillion was by far the best!  Next outing will be Monday the 11th, and it will definitely be ANCHOR BAY!
