Launched @ the Cap @ 11:00 am in 10-12k of wind, sometimes stronger. Almost always windy @ the Cap, much like the real Flemmish Cap, epic fishing but harsh conditions & filled w/ large seals & local rumors of White Sharks. Moderate surf but water clarity must have still been good, fishing was an 7 on a scale of 1 to 10.  Fished 50-100 yds outside last bit of kelp-there's a 1/2 mile long kelp bed that parallels the shore & kicks out toward the Point into deep water.  Fished off the end of the kelp bed in I would guess 60' of water

Had mostly wide open fishing for an hour before I had to go.  1st drop a legal Ling 26", but not a monster.  Few minutes later landed a 20" Vermillion in deep water.  Gophers & blues & yellows or a ling or vermillions 9 drops out of 10.  Threw back everything except for last Vermillion 22" & fat, fat, fat.  Biggest Vermillion I've ever got here.  Tryed to weigh it on my cheap Ikea scale & it said around 8 lbs.  Doesn't look quite as big as Estero Bays' 8.6 lb Vermillion but it's close.

Used magic "Dorardo" colored fishtrap on 1.5 oz leadhead-works awesome for this type of fishing.

Side Note:  I believe this sport's going to be huge one day-it's too easy to get epic fishing w/ a yak.  I watch the party boats spend hours motoring up here & fishermen paying $50 a pop for what can be easily accomplished in an hour and a half, all for just the price of kayak!!!!!

Good report.  Nice red.  Where's the Cap?  I know the Atlantic version of the Flemish Cap from "The Perfect Storm", but I've never heard of it in NorCal.  I'm guessing up near Bodega?

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

PJ makes it sound like it's Heaven, but I think it's closer to Harmony.
