Hello everyone
I would like to find someone who would be interested in building a custom swimbait rod for me.
I have recently started getting into throwing swimbaits and now I am looking at buying a swimbait rod, only issue is all the swimbait rods I have found are 7'6"-8' long and a rod of that size can be a little too big for me to use in my kayak.
If anyone is interested in building me a custom rod please send me a pm
Thanks
Jason

I use a factory Seeker rod which is 196-7 foot. Great live bait rod also. Some use this rod for sturgeon as well. A pretty much a catch all rod. Sensitive tip and plenty of back bone for lifting.

I have a 7'6" m/h abu garcia vendetta, not a fan of it and I have been debating on putting it up in the for sale section

I don't really want to have to compromise with buying a pre made rod I would rather just pay someone to build the rod I want

Hey vanilla, you might consider making your own. My buddy hand makes some rods and loves the satisfaction of landing a fish on his finished product.
I've always wanted to try it. It looks like it would be a great winter project.

Mud hole is a good rod building site with pretty much all you need to get started. And they have pretty good sales on blanks at times also.
Just throwing options out there for you if you don't get a builder who can  do it for you.

+ 1 on what Mat said. Mud hole makes kits which are a great way to get started. Building a rod takes me 10-25 hours so the labor costs are significant which is why I don't build professionally. A custom built rod will cost you much more than the same production rod if you hire someone but a little less if you build your own. Eric Kunz (KZ) is a pro builder but may have retired. There is a huge satisfaction to catching a fish on a rod you built yourself. Really not that hard either.

You can call John Walton at Waltons pond in San Leandro.  He knows a good rod builder by the name of Brian. Johns number is 510-352-3932

What is considered the best length for a Kayak fishing rod. Do you go by the length of the yak. Fast or med action. I liked the Mud hole sight good enough I'm thinking about building a rod. But I'm not familiar with the terminology.

The MHX kits tend to tell you what kind of fishing they are designed for.  I like 6.5 - 7.5' rods.
