Don't look now but we have good rain expected through Monday.

Enough rain to get some inflows into our lakes and reservoirs. And enough to drop the fire danger way down across NorCal forests and range land.

Not nearly enough to end the drought, however, but significant none the less.

Hope it happens!

Better then nothing but, do not think these totals will help the fire danger much by the time June rolls in.
We are in for some dry brush/forest.

Reports are getting better for more significant rain in this series.  Channel 3 says this should more than double the rainfall we have for the whole water season to date.

NWS is predicting 1-2 feet of snow up in my neck of the woods this weekend.  If it happens, then hopefully it repeats itself about 20 more times through the rest of the winter.  Still expecting one helluva busy fire season though  :smt010.

The fire season will be busy but this rain will dampen the immediate threat that we have now.

We don't normally worry about fires in Jan/Feb. like we have so far this year.

I'll take that with a grain of salt. 2X0 is still 0.  :smt044

So far, my 3 rain gauges all say I have 8" of rain since this series of weather fronts came in.  AND it's still raining pretty good out there.  I had 4 1/2" yesterday as of 4pm, another 1 1/2" at 7am this morning, and now another 2" since then for a total of 8".

Not too shabby!

The south bay got shafted as we've only had about 0.02" since this huge pineapple express was supposed to hit.  Hope you enjoy your water up north.  :smt010

What a difference a day makes. My gauge says roughly 10" since Friday.

We felt everyone of those inches at the lake this weekend bro, and not in the good way!

Folsom Lake has risen over 10 feet in less than 24 hours.  Inflow is over 33,000 cubic feet per SECOND!  Compare to 254cfs on Thursday.

The photos on the news this evening are amazing how much the lake has come up.
Also, Lake Tahoe has risen 4" since this storm started up.

Oh, and it's still raining around my place...

Last time I checked in, there was 8" in the rain gauge as of yesterday at 3:30pm.  Add 2 3/4" to that for a grand total of 10 3/4" here in El Dorado County, South of Placerville.  The run off here has been juuuust short of scary, with the flows in local creeks and hillsides very high.

No real damage as far as I can tell, beyond several small trees I've planted over the past 2 to 3 years leaning over from over saturated soil.  I temporarily braced them and will make more sturdy bracing next couple days.

Was at Incline Village over the weekend.  The slots were not kind to me . . .    :smt011

It was blowing like crazy and dumping hardcore at the meadows at hte summit of Mt Rose Hwy.
But at lake level on Saturday and Sunday, it was a mix of snow and rain.  Very warm temps, terrible ski/board conditions
