(Feel like I'm in the 6th grade giving a book report.  :smt003)

Wife and I got a couple of Revos the end of last summer, not thinking of fishing. Every time out we wondered why we weren't fishing though. Anyway I'm here to suck up the experienced info and tips and tricks. In particular right now, I'll be searching for downrigger info....thus this post so I can search  :smt006

Welcome.  Where in North West Oregon are you located?  I have family all over the state and get up there fairly often without the yak.  Maybe I should bring the yak next time I'm up.

Hi guys....we live south of Vernonia  (Vernowhere)  about halfway between Portland and the coast. We can be in the coast bays or the Columbia River or Willamette River in an hour with several rivers and lakes inbetween.  Three hours time gives us unlimited options around here. We just got our Kayaks last September but haven't been in the water since mid November, and are chopping at the bit to get back out. No dry suits yet so it's been a bit too cold (for the wife  :smt003) Opening at one of the closer lakes we like is March 1st and we'll be there.

The Scotty 1060 and Cannon Easi troll were 2 in particular I am looking at. I like the 1.5 or 2:1 retreval rate. Looking at them, the Cannon verticle spools seem more user friendly, but never having used one I don't really know. Also curious why the Scotty couldn't be twisted to at least at a 45deg if not 90deg to make it easier to crank depending on where and how it's mounted.  These things seem kinda big, wish there was a slightly smaller size. I saw a "mini" but it was real small and couldn't probably handle enough weight. Not sure about that either though. Most definitely let me know if you post any info.

Thanks

Yep NWKA and NCKA are easily the best 2 around from my perspective. There are many out there.

Recently it woulda been in the snow. We're gonna try and spend a week or so at Siltcoos Lake and get on some of the other water close to there that's near you too. Seen any more sharks recently?  :smt103

I would like to see some photos on how and were you mounted this down rigger. I have two I used but converted to electric so they just sit in the garage. Thanks
