I have a Z71 also with the roller also. Did you use the pipe insulation wrap? How did it hold up? Did you buy any other support brackets to support the kayak like these. http://www.rackattack.com/product-pages/prorack-kayak-carrier.asp on the flat support bars. Thanks

meaning the Z71 ….  I have a burn, Z71,  one of the reasons I bought was that "luggage assist roller " … I put some pipe insulation on that puppy…  put the nose of my yak on that and up it goes….

Nope,  Just the Yakama bars,  which I also wrapped the insulation on those too…  I also secure it a little better with black gorilla tape in 3 spots and been very happy.  cheap, effective….  I also just leave my outback on the truck all summer long… with those fancy do dad holders, you can't do that as they will dent your hull over time…

Having your yak upside-down on bars with insulation, it could be there for a life time...
