Dry Creek Restoration Project

Went on a tour this week, was really impressed. Hope it works.

A lot of the redwood came from the hwy 101 widening project. The property owner granted a 25 year easement (which they got paid for) had there creek bank stabilized, hopefully improve the fishery and it looks great. Win win if you ask me. Total cost of this section, if I remember right was 6-7 million. The pics don't do it any justice. The redwoods are sunk 10' and withstood 18k lbs of pulling force. They had to stop due to the tree ripping apart.

Thanks for sharing that, Anthony.  It's exciting to see projects such as that put in place.  The damage that society has done on so many streams is starting to be turned around, and features such as back channels, ponds, and especially in-stream features like large wood are so crucial to fish and overall stream health.  Great stuff!
