Reputable Shops...need help

Hello,

I am a newbie to the sport and was wondering about a reputable and knowledgable yak shop. I read some things about MBK that keep me from patronizing their store. Any takes on Half Moon Bay Kayaks or California Canoe and Kayak? I live in San Francisco and I don't mind the drive to most places.
