Heres a little video from the last 2 weeks down in San Diego. There was nothing bitting off shore so I stayed in the bay and had a blast on the Grumpies, AKA Spotted Bay Bass. Always a great time fishing down there.

WTG Jeff! Looked like great days on the water. I thought you were going to sneak me in the trunk.  :smt044  I went by Headwaters today and almost came home with a Jackson Cuda12. Love the standing fly fishing up action in your video.  :smt006

Look like you were on Coronado Island. I fished from there where the Seals trained. It is a very nice place I'm not sure how the fish there are to eat though. I didn't want to eat any from there.

A lot of that was Coronado. I grew up in Coronado and like to fish home waters while I'm there. The fish aren't good to eat out of the bay unless its halibut from the mouth. But pound for pound the spotted bay bass put up a great fight.

Family was military a long time ago. It was crazy to see how much fly fishing has taken off down there. The bay is the perfect place for it too.

Great vid. No bonefish? I've heard a rumor of them being in the back flats. Any truth to that?

It's absolutely true. The back bay flats hold them year round and in summer they move toward the mouth. A little different then fishing for them in the tropics. You can't sight fish em or stalk em. It's easier to get them with bait like ghost shrimp.
