My new years resolution is to make sure I am on the water often enough to catch at least one fish a month the entire year and if possible not repeat the species of fish, (12 different species) hopefully forces me to fish new and unfamiliar waters.

If you want to also accept the challenge it is a "friendly contest" could all post in this same thread see who posts first each month.

Does it need to be friendly? :smt001

I'm in.  There is a similar contest already, and the money raised goes to a good cause.  http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=51372.0

Okay, I am game, how does this sound for simple rules:

1. Each time you post your monthly fish - you pay $1
2. Each month you don't post costs you $2
3. Money collected/donated at end of year to Pay It Forward - Assist NCKA Members Fighting Cancer
4. Everyone donates between $12 and $24
5. Honor System that you caught fish in the month you post
6. Any fish counts,
7. Any legal method of fishing from kayak

This ^ I don't plan on even being top twenty but my money will go to an amazing cause... And same goal as yours it will make me target certain species. I'm sure most of my fish will be small compared to most. But if I can even hit 10 species it Will make my season. All it can do is make me a better angler.

I appreciate AOTY and all the work that goes into it, this post started as setting a simple goal for the year.

After AOTY was referenced in the thread my thoughts were if you wanted to make it a little more challenging when you catch your Fish-a-Month donate $1 or $10 or any amount to PIF, if you don't catch your fish donate double the amount. Nobody  is checking, nobody is counting just more motivation to get OTW.

Hope everyone does well in 2014.
