I'm new to the sport and these forums. I have been looking at the fishing reports and hookups boards and see a lot of abbreviations and nonspecific names, e.g. "ocean cove". I was wondering if there was a list of where all these places were, perhaps by zipcode or GPS coordinates. I think a map and list of abbreviations would make a great article for the web page.

Personally I'm in Arcata, just a little north of Eureka. I know of places to launch for Humboldt Bay, North Jetty, South Jetty, and Trinidad Harbor and would be keenly interested in finding other spots. It looks like we Far North members are a minority here.

I agree that all the abreviations/acronyms can be quite daunting for a newbie.  Can make you feel kind of excluded by all the veterans who are in the know (even though I know its not intentional).  While I understand that it can be a pain to type out things, reducing the acronyms would make the site more inviting and user friendly.

I recently saw the terms "G2 on the AO" and couldn't figure out their meaning.  Maybe someone can start a thread of acronyms in the General Information category and then if someone is looking up a term they can be refered to that thread.  Currently if you search on the acronym you might eventually find its definition but only after going through scores of postings that just use the term.
