I have a question about tying rope on the buoys and crab traps....

The Palomar rep (at the Headwaters class) tried to explain how to tie the extra rope around the buoy so that there would be no slack (yet at the same time, the way he was tying it allowed for the right amount of rope to come out for the depth of water).

Anyone remember how to do that? I can't seem to duplicate what we was showing us to do!

I have about 50 ft of rope on each trap, but I won't need that much.

Thanks guys! Looking forward to Crab Fest! Got my bait bags in the freezer and getting the traps all squared away next.

Did he put some weight on the line coming out of the top of the buoy? Doing it this way keeps the line vertical and will accommodate tidal change. Does this make sense?

Thanks for the quick reply!

I don't remember if he talked about a weight....but I think that would make sense. What size weight would be needed?

leaded line is best...  I just use 10 feet on the top of the main line and it keeps everything under the surface.
