I'll be on the water tomorow to fish the back bay, company welcome.  I've never had much luck in the forebay areas, but hope to find something with swimbaits, cranks, and baby some chovies tomorow...any hints and tricks also appreciated.

Hmmmm....

I never fished back there, but got the impression it was shark and bat ray central. Which to me spells B-A-I-T. My Ex and I lived in LO on Lilac, so it was all of about a two minute commute to the closest put-in, and 5 minutes to the put-in down in Baywood. But as I said, I never fished the back bay.

Good luck!

Yep! Leopards and Bat rays, you got it.   But... Decent halibut can be pulled occasionally from the section of the main channel between Baywood and Cuesta By the Sea. I've had reasonable success back there with nothing more than a Carolina rig and some chovies. Be prepared to paddle a lot during tide changes.
