I read on someone else's post that they put a barrier on the launch area by the boat landing area? Has anybody found out if we can still launch there?

Where else can I launch from? I've read the old wooden pier but I dont know where that is?
Google maps shows me a pretty big pier near by but im not sure if that's the one they're talking about.

They have one launch ramp that is closed off. I don't know if very many kayakers launch from there anyways. You can launch by HMB Kayaks or the old pier (where W Point Ave dead ends at the water).

They are dredging the launch ramp and putting what they dredge up in the lot next to HMB Kayaks.

Looks like Old Pier would be more of a straight shot out. I have been going out from HMB Kayaks. How's the parking at the Old Pier?

While the pier is slightly shorter (maybe 0.2 mile), when coming back in, you're usually quartering upwind to get back to the pier vs. quartering downwind to get back to HMB Kayaks.  Just something to keep in mind ...

HMB kayak launch has a bathroom, fish cleaning station and a store to buy ice. You are also more likely to be hassled by the Harbor dude and DFG. :smt012 The HMB kayak staff have always been very supportive of NCKA so if you have some crabs or fish you can spare, they are always very happy for the gift.
