Pat that is really funny.

Just to clarify, if I am salmon trolling from a boat I use mono or copolymer main line for it's shock absorbtion and abrasion resistance if you tangle another line or the DR cable.

From a kayak, spectra mainline allows your diving plane to dive at a steeper angle and reach a deeper depth. With a sinker release, you can get deeper with less weight. Later in the season you are often dragging mud so from a kayak, spectra gives you a real advantage.

I used both rods for trolling and mooching. They are great rods! I haven't seen a problem.
