I'm considering going fishing for RF and Ling this weekend before the season closes and I was wondering if you could recommend a charter departing from SC or HMB. Thanks in advance

Heard good things from Huli Cat in HMB.  Never fished it though.  Took a charter from SC one time.  Doubt I would do that again.  Fished reefs with little 8-10" blues the whole time.  Fished Chris's, Sam's & Randy's out of Monterey & always done well.

x 1 billion!

Been on the Hulicat numerous time, Tom will get you on the fish!!! The "New Gravy" used to be another great choice; but he nolonger does charters.

For a Six-Pack, definitely hit up Mooch Better; plus, you cant beat the name for luck!

Thank you all. I ended you going on Queen of Hearts in HMB and I have to admit that it was not the best.
First it was too crowed and our lines keep getting tangled with our neighbors… Also the youngest of the crew member was not very friendly. We went about 1H South, pretty much following the coast line. Fishing anywhere from 35 to 70 feet deep….
It was a nice day and some caught pretty decent fished including an 18 lb ling cod…
On my side I caught  6 fishes and broke my line 7 times…. The picture is the 3 we had for dinner tonight :-)
Anyway overall it was a decent day on the water

I fished the QOH for salmon early in the season and thought Bob and Michael were pretty good, and I have been on a lot of boats. Fishing party boats is a skill in itself. For rochfish, you are better off kayaking, unless you want to fish SMC.

Glad you made it on water; and sorry that it wasn't the best experience you had.

Having a good captain that knows how to position the boat on a drift is very important; and a good deck hand makes everyone's experience a great one.

Gary, the deckhand on the Hulicat, is one of the best in Pillar Point; he takes care of everything from helping you rig (and re-rig) you rod, to keeping you well stocked on bait, to helping you land your fish and finally cleaning you catch.

Tom Mattuesh, is probably the best captian in the harbor; probably one of the best around. He's the one most photographers/videographers book during the Maverick events. If anyone is gonna get you on the fish, he will!!

I have gone out twice this year out of Emeryville on the New Huck Finn and have been impressed with the Customer Service and their dedication to stay out there even when it was slow.

If you haven't watched the movie 'Chasing Maverics' yet .... it's a good watch & features some good footage of Hulicat in it.  Might be where that picture above came from.
