I have a coworker who is handicapped by a couple leg and foot deformities and wants to get into kayaking. I was wondering if there are any groups like HOW that cater to non-vet handicapped folks? A hobie is out for her with her foot not being able to peddle, but she wants a sit on top so she can get back in it, but I am also thinking a sit in might be alright with a sidekick ama kit maybe?? Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts or experiences please pass on, thanks! Rob

It might, got any demo pairs? Since a big part of if is being able to get back in the boat if you fall out,  do the Rorows pop off pretty easily? How many times have I been to your house and still not seen a pair?! :smt044

I'm not sure if its possible but maybe you could see if headwaters is willing to bring any demos to the amador event. There should be plenty of us to help out there.  :smt006

Keep me posted on this development.  The first question I have is can she swim or is she comfortable in the water?    It's always a good idea to drownproof a person, then you can work on other things.

I hope we can help her.

Will do Raydon.

I tried asking those questions and didn't really get a straight response. I would assume that, no she is not comfortable in the water and would not be too comfortable climbing back in on her own, that's why I was looking for a group type setting she could get in to. That's also why I starting thinking of outriggers too, she wants something she can launch by herself from a roof rack on a jeep.  I explained all the pros and cons of length, weight, tracking, stability etc.

You can get just as drunk on water
As you can get on dry land.
