i saw a video of a kayaker using a dive reel as part of his anchor and i thought it was a great idea as i recently used my anchor and it was a pain in the butt wrapping all the line around the line holder.

what brand and size dive reel do you guys use if so?

search QRAS (quick release anchor system)...that's all you need. The anchor discussion starts and ends there (see: what kind of wheels should I buy = see wheeleeze)

Never heard anyone here using dive reel as part of the anchor.  Is this anchor system use for river, lake, or ocean?

I understood that the QRAS was just a release means for any anchor setup, provided some crucial quidelines are followed. I believe the dive reels would be for line management with a QRAS . Sounds like it be worth taking a look at. I use an anchor trolley which has a tag line from a float to a clamcleat for a quick release. Line management is another issue.

how deep would you anchor that you'd have that much line? I'd say about '50 -75 feet is all you'd need

im not sure, i guess it depends what im planning on fishing. i just started so i mainly stick with lakes. i read somewhere that its recommended to have three times the depth of which i plan to be fishing on.
so it doesnt have to be too deep.
looks like a great idea instead of wrapping line on some type of holder, you can just reel in the line, forget all the mess and i saw some cheaper ones for like $20-30.
i would imagine, the easier and less mess one has on a kayak the more time the angler has paying attention to his surroundings.
