For those of you who used or at one point used farmer john setup, what you guys use over FJ that will keep me warm if I go for a swim but dry quick once im back on. I have a couple rash guard shirts but needed something possibly a little thicker?  :smt012

Some people will put on Kokatat Tempest pants. I did it before, Kokatat tempest pants and Kokatat paddle jacket over farmer John. And then I jump overboard to practice self rescue. some water got inside after two self rescues. Thats added weight specially if you take extra time before re-boarding your kayak. The other disadvantage of this is it makes it harder to take a leak.

I'm very new in kayaking and I was asking my friend, FishingAddict about what to wear. When he lent me his kayak and took me on 2 trips, I wore my waders and waterproof jacket. I owned a few other waders, plus I scuba dive so I own some surf suits, too. I was going to wait till I saved up some money. I thought of getting the FJ but...after hearing his shark attack story.... and how it is harder to do self rescue with the FJ and/or waders, I eventually ordered the Kokatat Hydrus dry suit. Good thing my wife agreed.

i wear a capaline1 base then a capaline 2 or 3 over the top of the fj depending on air temp then paddle jacket over all and then my pfd, and am toasty as can be, one thing to remember is never to wear cotton, it will zap warmth and will not dry out, cameron

this is what i wear in the summer, in fall, i add a wetsuit top. the farmer john wetsuit has a front zipper, so no problem peeing.

I wear a farmer john, then on top 3 layers.  First a rash guard.  Then a shirt called mysterioso.  Then a paddle jacket.  Weather determines which one I am in, but it covers all the options.

I wear a 5mil FJ, with a variety of tops to accomodate the temperature, from a nylon Tee, to a fleece with a paddle jacket over it.

On the ocean I pretty regularly add this 2mil jacket to the FJ, it gives a little more thermal protection in case of a dunk and is really form fitting and stretchy so it doesn't interfere with paddling.
