No tandems lol once your friends see the fun your having they will want there own!! If they don't you'll find plenty of new friends here to fish with most anytime :-)
Like everyone has said don't buy cheap!!! If you buy a quality used boat then decide kayak fishing isn't for you you'll get what you paid for it. If you go the cheap route odds are you will have a hard time getting half of what you spent...
You should also watch the hookups in your area if there's one going on some one might have an extra yak for you to use. Can't hurt to ask. Welcome aboard and there's a reason it's called the madness you'll see!!

dude that is a sick ass offer!! thanks, i might take you up on that. (and you don't even know me) truly appreciate the offer.

i don't have a fishing license for this year, and i was thinking of getting the annual one for next year. your offer sounds very tempting. When is your next trip to HMB? maybe i can just get a day license for this year.

i heard on the radio that Sunday is going to be good weather..

I'll be there at grey light on Sunday (6-630 AM). You will need a fishing license, PFD and wetsuit. I will bring a VHF, paddle, seat and kayak.

Probably not a good idea for this Sunday. I sent you a PM on the loaner kayak. It is going to take you awhile to get all of the equipment and more importantly experience to kayak on the ocean. When you have the equipment and have taken a paddling class, PM me and I will take you fishing out of HMB.

For all you guys questioning the "cheap starter kayaks", have you  owned or used on before?  Which ones?  What was the issue with them?  I'm just trying to understand perspective.  Note that there are a few "value priced" kayaks on the market that seem to get good reviews, the Bass Pro Shop Ascend line being one of them.  Note that I don't personally have any experience with them.

I tried a pelican and a bic, and they felt flimsy.  I wouldn't hesitate to take them out for a recreational paddle on a lake, but for a hundred or so more I  would much prefer to buy a used p-13 or 15 which I feel comfortable taking nearly anywhere.

My issues with some of the "cheap" kayaks has been hull shape & quality of plastic & perceived long-term durability.  Other issues with some has been layout for rigging purposes.

I own a pelican apex 100 also sold as castaway 100 and under another name I can't think of. I bought it for my sons first kayak. It's ok for a young paddler until there's wind. I have paddled it several times no way I could spend a day fishing out of it. Here's some pros and cons.
Pros
Material is strong as hell and very ridgid ( I dropped it bow first from the roof hanger in my garage 8'drop on concrete not a mark on it. I can wrench the straps on the roof rack with little to no hull distortion.
Cheap $229.
Extremely light weight.

Cons
Flush mounts leak
Poor deck layout
Oddly shaped tank well
Poor drain plug placement  (can't get the water out from the leaky flush mount)
Low weight capacity
No hull access
Included steel shaft paddle was junk
