My son didn't have school yesterday, so we hung out and did some jobs together before taking advantage of some nice weather down at the mouth of the Eel.  I setup an X-Factor so we could scout depths in the estuary for the upcoming crab opener - it's gonna be another shallow crabbing year!   :smt005  I started him out in the X and then switched him to the SUP, which he excelled at - no spills.  We hopped off over on the north spit of the mouth and cruised the driftwood and flotsam for awhile finding a few cool and useful items to take home.  We wrapped it up and headed for home around 4 - got the boy OTW = mission accomplished!   :smt001

Then, after dinner and right before sunset, I got my daughter to head to Fernbridge with me for a sunset to dusk session.  Right when we pulled under the bridge and parked along a smooth run of 2 to 3' water we were treated to a massive moving wake - a few large kings were cruising upstream right where were about to paddle!  I got her on the SUP real quick and unloaded the X as quickly as I could.  We got to paddling and kid #1 did just as well as kid #2 had done earlier.  She was ruling the water!   :smt007

I did X-SUP and we headed upstream side by side, knowing the salmon were up there below the riffle.  As we approached the slightly moving water below the riffle I could see where the fish were sitting, and they soon turned and cruised past us.  Couldn't ever see more than a fin and their wakes, but these were big kings - would be cool to get a glimpse of them, so I may have to rig up a sub-surface camera mount for another session that should happen soon.

Good Times OTW with the kids and loving the new SUP.   :smt001
