Hey guys, I am thinking of getting a rod holder or 2 this evening and I am not sure what is best. Do you prefer the rocket launcher style or the scotty with the extension bar? Or neither of the 2 ideas, post up what you think is best!

I have an OB and installed my Scotty flush mounts right  behind the UP and DOWN handles for my rudder.  I have tried ALL of the Scotty rod holders and only use the Rocket Launchers now - it's what works for me.  I leash my rods and angle them to the rear.  Easy to take the rod out when there's a fish online.

The rocket launchers are good because you can angle them which ever way you want, and the rod can easily be taken out when you have a fish on.  Dont forget to leash your rods, just in case.

I prefer the metal extender with the power lock rod holder.  I have it mounted on a clamp mount on the right handle.  It works great for trolling because the rod is right in front of you and its easy to remove

+1, but since I troll 2 at once ( trout ) I angle slightly forward ( Can see both tips w/o turning head, less missed strikes ), Mantanaska may have the right idea for "BIG" fish though  :smt044
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

Which direction is your rod pointed?

Rocket Launchers for sure, IMO best all around rod holder on the market, I prefer the Scotty if I am trolling. The Ram I just leave in the back as an additional rod holder for when I have more then 2 rods and need the room up front.

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it
