Finally decided on a ff and picked up a lowrance mark 4. Now dont know where to mount it. I know I wanna go with a ram mount and don't want to install in shielded compartment as it is too far foward and I'm short  :smt009. Was thinking maybe gear track and ram mount like this one but affraid it will get in way say when landing fish or re entering after capsizing. How you trident owners have your setup?

I use a ram on a yak attack gear track & very happy with it.  I fold my ff flat to the hull when landing to prevent catching myself on it if something goes bad.

If you've only had this boat out a couple times take it out a couple more. I don't have an ok. I have a Jackson cuda. I mounted my ff on the center hatch close to me thinking I would need to reach it, after a year I realized I was wrong and moved it forward past my reach on a ram mount. Basically once you have your settings down you really don't need your ff in arms reach. I you need to mark something it's easy to scoot up a bit hit a few buttons and scoot back.

Its worth taking the boat out & visualize where you would mount it.

option 1 -  on hatch via geartrac.
option 2 -  on rail  via  geartrac.
quarter turn twist and  slide off  to move  from one rail to another.
sorry for the crappy  pictures

I've got a Cuda 12 and figured the same as Sonoramike, placing my FF up front and basically out of reach.  Only thing I caution while scooting forward to press buttons from time to time is make sure that the center hatch is free from lures - it'd suck to get a hook in the jewels!

Here's a photo of my boat when I was building it up.

It is super easy to go nuts on rigging.  My advice, when rigging, is figure out your simple fishing patterns and start there,...ie, is a GoPro mount super important to you?  If so, hit it.  If you don't know yet, leave it off for the time being.  It can get super frustrating to get out on the water and realizing you're fighting with your rigging instead of enjoying your time paddling and fishing.

I also have an OK T13 and I slapped the FF up front as well.  Never had a problem with it up there, but I did carry a stick with a costume prop finger to punch the buttons as the OKs are harding to move around in, for me.

My fishing buddy, Golfish put his in the middle of the rod pod.  He has a Lowrance 5 inch unit.

I have a T13 and I mounted mine under the shield. I can see it well and it is out of the way. I don't spend much time on the water touching it so I don't need it close. When I want to set a waypoint or switch to the chart I just scoot forward a bit and hit the buttons. Initially when I got the yak I wasn't too comfortable moving around to get in the front hatch and such but now that I have done it quite a bit its not a big deal.
