Hey all,
I'm looking at the Hobie Sport with the Mirage drive for my next yak.  Tried one a while back and it was great but I'm concerned about it's length.  It's about 10' long.  Think it'll be ok for salt water?  Doran/Monterey/Santa Cruz/N. coast?
I'm short (5'4") so it fits me just fine.  I fish off my current yak (Kiwi Angler) so that's what I plan to do with this one. Any advice before I drop $1800!!??
Thanks,

bob

i've never used a sport but i do own an outback.  for that kind of money, just save a little more and get an outback or revo.

+1.

I believe the Revo 11 is only $50 more than the sport.

Sounds like bigger may be better!  Yeah, for around another $50 I'll have more room for stuff :-)
thanks all.

The Sport makes a great lake/river/bay boat, but if you'll be in swells you're better off with a bit more plastic under your bum.  I peddled a Revo 11 in 8' swells and while it was do-able, it was not comfortable enough to effectively fish.  Go with the Outback or Revo 13.  :smt001

I LOVE my adventure but I am also fortunate enough to have a revo 13 as well and if I could only have one it would be the revo 13 which I sold my outback to buy. Revo is a great all around boat. Can do lakes oceans and creeks easily.

I said the same thing a couple weeks ago. I love my revo 11. Great overall boat but I'd rather have the extra couple feet for the ocean.

Bob

I live in Vallejo too and have a sport and an adventure, if you want to take my sport out to the waterfront and try it out I will let you borrow it.
I know you wont try to steal it, you are from NCKA and i know a lot of cops. :smt003

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Hey Luis,

I'll give you a call.  After reading all the posts, it may be a better idea to look at the Revo 11 or 13.  Have you fished at Doran lately?

agree with everyone here that Outback is the way to go...

sports have their place for lakes with better maneuverability, but ya can't beat the Outback for overall fishability in just about any water....
