Anyone have info on the closure of HOW Nor-Cal chapter?  I met the Team River Runner Chapter Coordinator Jeffrey Sloan and his group last Saturday at the Coast Guard pier in Monterey.  Their mission is similar to our HOW and I was invited to join this group which I am happy to participate.   Let me know if you are also interested.

Very good group. They do a great job teaching Vets how to paddle. Nice indoor pool.

it was about 7 years ago that Danglin left and Racinrob took over. He ran it for year or 2 then turned over the reigns to ArchiMarx(Adam). as far as I know, they never held another event. I'm kinda curious what happened. We had a big ass trailer full of kayaks, fishing poles, paddles, life vests and cooking equipment. Where did it all go? Hopefully to another chapter.

Update to old thread. I have not been on the site here for a long time. I ran How for 10 years actually. I too over in 2010-11 and had about 8 events per year for 10 years. Covid came and things went south. I turned it over to a few others here on the site. No names to be mentioned. It faded away. Adam, Archie never had anything to do with HOW. All the gear ended up going to Southern California Chapter I think.

team river runner looks like a great service opportunity! Jump in and help! Info on HOW. We were sad to see NORCAL HOW end. We had so many amazing service opportunities for our children. They learned to help others and to truly give back to those that served. It was A LOT OF WORK for all involved. volunteers and organizers ran into conflicts and organization problems. Venues got harder to obtain and others got pulled in to endeavors that left little time. Yup, then came covid. Nail in the coffin.... I would like to personally thank all those that had part in making this HOW chapter work as long as it did. My family benefited in so many ways. us and my children, have memories that will last a lifetime. Participate if you can in some way to serve others. We sing Christmas carols and ring the bells for salvation army. volunteer at our local food bank. There are so many ways to get out there and give back. look into the Just serve website to find giving machines. Ya, donate to well building in Africa! HOW is/was awesome. start a chapter? sit with a vet, buy a active service person lunch, thank a cop for serving and protecting, forgive others stupid shit (might be you needing it next) show love and caring to your family and friends. You may never know what it means to another. you may save a life. Again, thankyou to those that served and organized our HOW chapter. hope you know what it ment to us and so many others. y'all DID save lives 100%

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!
