I went Fisherman's Wearhouse to pick-up my license when Thomas took me to an isle littered with the "new" Megabaits :smt007 Of course I had to get some...even though the RF season is far-far away :smt011

I got a few 6oz "laser Minnows" for $6.99.

You might use those earlier than you'd anticipated, Joel.  I'll bet you can hook a Mack at Tahoe on one of those no problem.

Thanks for the info - The Mendo Crew introduced me to the Mega-Bait last year and I ended up catching lots of fish with it.

Custom baby, custom. Try replacing the treble hook with a light wire tuna hook. It makes for easier releases when whipping the lure off of the reefs/rocks.

As an aside, a realistic eye seems to be the key to most jigs I have fished.

I have used a variety of mass produced jigs and to this day, I still prefer hard labored hand made versions any day.

I use these exclusively now.

Same with teaser flies.

In their case, I prefer bulk of the rabbit hair and something flashy like Mylar strands. Here again realistic eyes are key.

Then again I may be a bit biased.

I am a custom whore. I have this lady make all the rods I fish with...

I have custom made lures, reels, and gaffs.

Thanks goes out to Erik, Alan Tani, Harry Boos, and my good 'ole grandma!

Now if she'd quit breaking bones and finish my series of custom Super Seekers!  :smt007

That fat purple/black H.Boos I got from you way back when was the sh!t.  I was so bummed when I finally lost it.  That iron caught more fish than any other iron i've fished since.

Megabaits were a close second, though.  Good lookin' out, Joel!

I had very good results with these in 6oz Purple.  Sometimes I will swap out the treble for a single siwash hook with a small white hootchie attached.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but after having half a dozen P-Line hex bars rust on me in storage last year, they're not going to get any $$$ from me for a while. Pt. Wilson darts were around first, and catch fish for me just as well as the Megabaits do. Then there are various incarnations of Braid jigs out there as well. All for the same price or less than the Megabaits...
