Former NCKA lurker here, from up North in NWKA country, near Tacoma.

Two years ago, I swore off power-boating and bought a Revo.  At the time I didn't realize a kayak's propensity for breeding - my garage is now overrun with not only the Revo, but two Adventure Islands.

I've lived in the Bay Area (Pinole), Hawaii, and the Northwest- love them all, and wish I had discovered kayak fishing earlier in life.

Hope to be able to head south in the future, and meet up with some of you guys.   Ralph

Welcome Ralph,

So how's the fishing inside the sound for a kayak angler? You guys ever hit Tacoma Narrows during slack tide? Hood Canal?

I spent some of my early years on Whidbey Island. Miss the area buy don't really miss all the rain!

Again welcome to NCKA

Fishing in Puget Sound have been awesome this summer - mainly because it's a "pink" year, and the weather has been great.  Every odd numbered year we get millions of pink salmon that are fun and easy to catch.  Their numbers are starting to fade now, but the coho are still coming, followed by the chums all the way to Thanksgiving.

I stay away from The Narrows - the 7 knot currents ain't much fun.  Have only fished Hoods Canal for chums.

NWKA is having a Chum Slayfest Tournament November 9th near Shelton, WA - should be a blast - chums aren't much for eating, but pound for pound are some of the best fighting salmon.  And yes - it will probably be rainy and cold, buy that's what the drysuit is for.
