After alot of debate, I picked up an older Malibu 2xl.  Thanks to everyone here for all the advise.  Took my 9 yr old son out of New Brighton this weekend for his first time out on the water AND his first time of actually catching something.  He had only been pier fishing a few times and didnt have alot of interest in it.  How do you get a little kid into fishing?  Well you follow the birds to the chovies and let er rip.  I spent 3 hours helping him get fish off so he could get back in the water "before all the fish were gone".  He had a blast.
Now for a question for all of you out there that fish tandem.  Any suggestions or pics on setting up a tandem for 2 ppl to comfortably/efficiently do some fishin?
I really appreciate any input.

I once had a Hobie Outfitter tandem.  With the two mirage drives, it was really easy to get around in.  It was a lousy single yak and my son didn't want to fish so I switched to a Revo but if two are really going to fish, I highly recommend it.
