got a used sea eagle fast track and had to break it in with some delta striper fishing.  went down to eight mile rd in stockton and put in at 9am.  paddled out to an island somewhere out there  :smt002 to try and catch some bait.  that didn't happen, as all the bluegill were way too big.  kept a bunch of the slabs for my family to eat.  finally caught one fish that was suitable for bait and headed out to this other area  :smt002 to drift for stripers.  it didn't take long when something tugged at the line.  i set the hook and this thing took me all the way across the river almost up to shore.  here's some crappy phone video.  wish i had a gopro or something mounted at least. don't mind the stupid commentary.  it's the mike rowe coming out of me. lol

Good job NEWB. Two things I love bluegill on the delta and Mike Rowe. Another thing I don't see you on the roll call list for the Yakhoppers Delta Kayak Madness  tournament out of Tiki Lagun its a fun day. Its on Sunday Oct 27. Look under the tournament section hope to see you there.

Right on!  Nice fish and great video.  That took some athleticism to fight that beat and hold your phone.

thanks guys,

i did NOT expect to catch one that big.  my medium heavy bass rod sure got a workout, not to mention my wrists. both from holding onto the phone and fighting the fish.  i did catch another one a bit smaller, but good fight nonetheless (6.5 lbs).

i was originally supposed to make the tournament and held off on registering on purpose because i knew something like this was going to happen.  it's my coworker's birthday and he originally had it off.  he's now working, but forgot to fill my name in on the requested day off. :smt013 oh well.  will it go on after 5pm?
