I have been debating over what kayak to buy and have really been looking at the hobie mirage outback suv. Can anyone tell me what they think about it.

Get the Hobie Adventure instead. It'll be available this fall some time. If you're still interested in the Outback. Still wait for the Adventure, there'll be some Outback for sale as people upgrade to the Adventure.
For more information about Hobie Kayaks, check out kayakfishingstuff.com. They have a separate forum for different brands of kayak.

I was looking at the adventure before the outback. I like it more than the outback. But will the 4 ft length difference be a problem for transporting it?

It all depends on your situation.
Do you have the storage space? If you do, go for the Adventure. The lenght and slimmer width translates into speed. Speed translated to longer distance and minimal effort.
If you lack the storage space, go w/ the Sport. Lighter, shorter and as fast as other kayaks of longer length. It will get you out to the fishing grounds just as well. It paddles like a bathtub, but w/ the Mirage Drive, you'll be able to keep up with others.
The Outback, the SUV is large, heavy. There's alot of deckspace, but limited useful below deck storage space. It's a beast to load by yourself.
The Adventure addresses this problem, w/ the large front hatch. You now can store your rods inside for those surf launches. I lost / snapped a rod cause I lacked this simple storage option.
btw, If you're interested in the Sport, mine will be going up for sale w/ the arrival of the Adventure.

Ahoy sundownersam - You must check out this place or call - just got 07' selections for hobiekayaks was there today
http://www.kayakcity.com/  Watt Ave. in SAC they have a fully loaded MirageOutback suv(12 ' 1") with all options including the with b'top option <kinda funny lookin)
Don't be scared about the website(could use work) the store itself is top notch and big selection.

this years MirageRevolutionFish is a beaut! o7'(they got them in last week) this year vs. last year does upgrade the travel tote wheels, but minus the spin rod holder and anchor - so they(Kayakcity) are giving a preseason discount so you buy gear me thinks. Good marketing.

Well I'm a trout river fisherman/ somewhat newb kayak-er / past sailor - finally decided what i wanted - similar start as you thinking Outback...
Put my money down locked the price today  :yak Picking up my rig next week I'm just debating on khaki or green -
RevolutionFish (13' 5" )  is what i selected - preseason sale - 07  $1669.05 after tax that's 1549$ before tax
They have a sweet deal on an 06' MirageAdventure (16')  right now. think it was 1750 or something for the 06 orange
Also saw a Wilderness Systems SOT~ Tarpon 140 green for like 675$

Well this was my first post hope it helped(Just found this site tonight). I'm sure I'll have some questions soon -
I'm Valley Springs area during the weekend and Bay Area during the week -
will be mostly fishing lakes, rivers, and hope to ocean fish sooner than later
