I bought two of these a little over three years ago.  Overall have been pretty happy with them.  The other day Nathan's radio stopped working after about 5 minutes.  When you pushed the talk button you could see the volts drop from 8 to 4 to 2 then the unit shuts off.  Assumed the battery was the problem and bought a replacement.  New battery did the same thing.  His unit was shot.

2 weeks later I turn my unit on and it is fritzing out.  Doesn't send, receive or act normal. Both happen a month or so past the 3 year bulletproof guarantee.  Makes you wonder.  He bought a new West Marine job, I got an Icom.

It could be the transformer on your battery charger. Mine would no longer output 12V at 200mA, so the battery never fully charged. After I swapped it out, the battery charged without a problem.

because I have two, I tried various combos with the two chargers to no avail
