Has anyone used their kayaks to access sweet spots for shore-based angling between Oct 31/May 15th? Could DFG bust you if you land on the beach with a bunch of rockfish, even though you legally caught them?

It's been discussed and addressed on Carrie Wilson's column......not legal, not worth the hassle.

On the other hand, with the money you save on fines you could buy some nice spearfishing gear and slay year round :)
..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

The CDFG 'AskMarine' email message was answered quickly, and the reply left no ambiguity at all:

Section 27.25(c)(3) in the 2013-14 California Ocean Sport Fishing Regulations booklet:

"When angling from shore (includes beaches, banks, piers, jetties, breakwaters, docks, and
other man-made structures connected to the shore), all species may be taken or possessed year-round. No vessel or watercraft (motorized or non-motorized) may be used to assist in taking or
possessing these species while angling from shore under this provision."

....so that's that!
