Ok so I sold my truck, bought a new Honda Pilot and have factory roof rack, gonna buy J racks (any suggestions) and what are the thoughts on bow/stern lines in addition to the racks, are they needed?

Bow and stern lines are absolutely needed. Avoid fold down models as the have more plastic parts than fixed models. PM Ravensblack he might have two pair for sale.
